The nursery is equipped and designed for children preschool age and below. Childcare is also provided as needed for other church related activities such as choir practice and meetings. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the nursery please contact Peggy Poole, our Nursery Minister. 2 and 3 year-olds: The 2 year old and 3 year old class strives to reinforce the teachings of Christ to your children. We have many fun activities including our welcome song, the bible story circle, and making crafts that have a theme which coincides with the bible teaching for that day. We have a snack each week and we take the opportunity to teach the children about praying. Our goal is to help your children grow in the love of Christ.
4 year-olds to 3rd Grade: These classes use a group curriculum. Sunday lessons incorporate having an offering basket available and coloring sheets or activity sheets on the table as children arrive. After children arrive attendance is taken and rewarded with attendance stickers. Participation in a physical activity related to the weeks scripture leads to story time on the carpet. The children's stories are read from the take home leaflet along with a related scripture. A related craft or coloring activity is completed and music or a game is enjoyed until prayer and snack time. The children go home with their projects and leaflets.
4th and 5th Grades: The Fourth and Fifth Grade Sunday School Class at St. Philip's is a "bridge" between the Children's Department and the Youth Department. Because we are preparing the children for the fast approaching changes in their lives, we teach not only the weekly lessons but also introduce such tools as the concordance, Bible atlas, and Bible dictionary. In addition, we discuss baptism, communion, creeds, confirmation, seasons of the church year and the hymnal. In the fall, the class plans and conducts a worship service at Merrill Gardens. At Christmas we participate in the Children's cantata. In the spring a 4-week acolyte course is taught. Each quarter, the children save and send their weekly offerings to the UMCOR mission project of their choice. We stress responsibility through regular attendance, good behavior, class participation and memorizing Old and New Testament books. We have a good time! Every Sunday there is a treat of some kind, prayers and sharing. God willing Mary and I are on the job every week year ‘round. Our goal is to make the boys and girls knowledgeable about the Holy Bible, and to make them aware of the love of their Lord, who is always faithful, forgiving and loving. Youth Sunday School

Adult Bible Study Class 9:30 in Family Life Center
Room 16 We usually study one book of the Bible at a time in its entirety. This tends to be an in-depth study with lots of great interaction rather than just an introduction. We also study and discuss other topics that are of interest to the class and are related to the Bible study. The topics are many and varied and the discussion is lively. Our class also has a social function every other month. This always involves great fellowship and wonderful food, in the best Methodist tradition. We gather several times a year as a class to go out and eat. We like to try a different restaurant each time. During the summer we always have a swim party at on of the class member's homes. We also gather three to four times a year at one of the member's homes for a mystery party. This is always great fun and of course great food.
