2012 Church Wide Goals

The 2012 Goal Planning Retreat produced the following goals for St. Philip’s. The goals have been ratified by the Church Council and assigned to particular committees or groups. All goals are designed to work in unison with the United Methodist Mission Statement to make St. Philip’s a place where Hearts are Opened and Minds Enriched in Making Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World. Wherever possible, a measurable goal has been identified for more accurate tracking of our successes.

  • Focus on Local Service and Mission Opportunities – assigned to Missions Outreach Team. A refinement and continuation of a 2011 goal, we will offer the congregation four opportunities in 2012 to use their  kills, talents and experience to serve the local community.
  • UPS: Utilize the People in Service – assigned to Staff and Church Council. A new model for offering  people opportunities to serve will be implemented throughout the congregation, helping us all use our God-given spiritual gifts and natural abilities to serve in the world.
  • Theological Chat Room – assigned to Media Team. This goal imagines a flexible chat room that would open another avenue for those who are seeking, curious, or wanting to better understand what we believe via an online presence through our church website.
  • Becoming a Brushy Creek Community Church – assigned to all church members. Continued from 2011, this is the nexus of all 2012 goals – to be a church in service to the Brushy Creek Community as an example of the love that God has given to all of us in Jesus Christ.
