Alpha comes to St. Philip’s January 18.

What is Alpha?

The Alpha Course is a practical introduction to the Christian faith, a place where guests have an opportunity to explore the meaning of life in a relaxed, friendly setting. The course usually meets once per week for 10 weeks and includes a day or weekend getaway in the middle. Each session, people enjoy great food, laughter and learning about the teachings of Jesus in a fun and friendly atmosphere where no question about life or God is seen as too simple or too hostile. There is no charge to attend the Alpha course.

Who Is Alpha For?

Alpha is for anyone. People attend Alpha from all backgrounds, religions and viewpoints. They come to investigate questions about the existence of God, the purpose of life, what happens after death, the teachings of Jesus and more. Many guests have never been to church; others may have attended church occasionally but feel they have never really understood the basics of the Christian faith. Everyone is welcome.

The Marriage Course – Introduction Session – Feb. 14 - FREE

  • Tend to avoid God and the church but want to strengthen your relationship with no strings attached?
  • Have you been together for over a year?
  • Would you like your relationship to be the best it can be?

If you answered ‘yes’ to any of those questions then this course is for you!

The Marriage Course is for any couple, whether you have been together for one year or 61 years and whether you feel you have a strong relationship or are struggling.

If you have a strong marriage this course will help you make it even better and will reinforce your good habits.

If on the other hand your marriage is in difficulty, the course will help provide you with very practical tools to help you work through the issues. Some couples who are separated have used the course as a way of trying to get back together.

Whatever your situation, the practical tools you learn will help improve and strengthen your relationship.

While The Marriage Course is based on Christian principles, it is designed for couples with or without a Christian faith. Many couples who are not churchgoers have commented that the Christian content was presented in a way that did not make them uncomfortable at all.

After Feb 14 – The Marriage Course will meet every other week from 5:30 – 8:30. Child Care provided upon reservation/request.

Journey of Hope Lenten Study

Multiple classes beginning: Tuesday, February 28, 7:00 pm, FLC 16; Wednesday, February
29, 7:00 pm, EMC 9; Virtual presentation Wednesday, February 29, 9:30 am, FLC Dr. Dale Schultz Open a new door this Lent and find the hope that changes everything. St. Philip’s invites you to take a seven week Journey to Hope. We’ll travel with Jesus to the cross and discover the Hope that can be found in the midst of life’s most difficult circumstances. Journey to Hope will inspire people to reflect on Jesus’ experiences on the path to the cross in new ways. It will encourage them to see real life situations with fresh eyes. And it will challenge people to interact with God, no matter their “mile marker” in life. By addressing real life circumstances of relationships, selfesteem, work, temptation, money problems, suffering and death, travelers on the journey discover how faith in Christ is relevant to everyday life and how having a faith community can make all the difference. During each lesson, participants will experience scripture, explore media messages, participate in reflective journaling, and reach out to others through hands-on mission efforts in age-appropriate ways.
