All parents are asked to consider a wonderful opportunity within our Church Family for children in the third grade and older. We have decided to have Acolytes light and extinguish the candles at every service - 8:15, 9:30 and 11:00 - as is the tradition of the Methodist Church. One of the purposes of this ceremony is to symbolically invite the spirit of Jesus Christ into our Worship experience and our Church itself. It is the goal of our Church leadership to involve our children in our Worship Services. This is also a great way for your child to begin to learn the value of service to others and to learn how they themselves are enriched personally when they serve God and other people. Your child could serve at the service which you regularly attend (or any service which you and they prefer).
Please contact our church office if your child is interested.

Do you have a special talent or skill you’d like to share with our children?
Are you a teacher? A story-teller? An actor? A singer or musician? A puppeteer? We need you! As we look toward the summer and fall semesters, we would like to incorporate some different methods of sharing God’s Word in our Children’s Programs. If you would like to be a part of this exciting plan, please come to the Children’s Ministries Open Meeting on February 12 (see above) or get in touch with Becky Hailey at children@stphilipsumc.org or at 244-2175
