The purpose of the United Methodist Men (UMM) is to promote the spiritual growth and development of the members, provide a place for the men of St. Philip’s UMC to share camaraderie and meet the needs of St. Philip’s.
We have a monthly dinner meeting on the first Monday of each month (except during the summer). We typically meet at a local restaurant at 6:30 pm and are usually done before 8:00 pm. We are currently meeting at Pok-e-Jo’s Smokehouse on I35, located in the Gattiland shopping center. The meetings consist of a devotional, old and new business, prayer concerns and general fellowship.
Our primary source of funds is a monthly breakfast at St. Philip’s on the 2nd Sunday of each month (except during the summer) prepared and served by the UMM members.
We make cash donations to several organizations on a regular basis, such as the Round Rock Serving Center, the St. Andrew’s Society, and Strength for Service. We also regularly help other St. Philip’s events and groups, such as the Resolution Run, Nursery School, and Youth Ministry. We also support special events and projects with one-time donations such as the recent media upgrade to the Family Life Center.
If you feel the need to serve others, or even just to have an opportunity to get out with a group, why not give us a try? Please give me a call if you have any questions.
